Affected Software/Reports/DLL(s): EDP
Affected Software Version: N/A
Symptoms: When attempting to open or use a format file on a network drive, the following error occurs.
System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.FileIOPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. at Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.Symbols.Container.InvokeMethod(Method TargetProcedure, Object[] Arguments, Boolean[] CopyBack, BindingFlags Flags) at Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.NewLateBinding.LateSet(Object Instance, Type Type, String MemberName |
Cause/Details: The following error may occur for formats on a network drive, if the security policy is not configured.
Resolution/Workaround: In certain scenarios, clients may wish to store EDP format files on network drives. Often, the .NET security policy is not configured to allow assemblies from a network drive as described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/832742.
One option to resolve this error is to move all the files for the format (.xse, .vbe, .dll, .rvf, -enum.eml) to be located on the machine that is running EDP, not on a network drive.
Another option is to change the .NET policy to allow execution of the assemblies from the network drive.
